Dentro Il quadro di Monet

Il legno di Cherrywood suda

Il dolore nascosto degli avi

Tocchi di pennello sfiorano la tela

Muovendosi dentro e fuori dal tempo

Mentre il tratto di Monet risveglia

un desiderio silenzioso

nel volto di un’amante

e la dolcezza gentile

dei tuoi occhi prende vita

Cherrywood sweats

The hidden sorrow of the sires

Brushstrokes softly touch the canvas

moving in and out of time

As Monet’s brush brings back

a quiet longing

in the face of a lover

and the gentle sweetness

of your eyes come alive

Footnote:

This poem is inspired by two life events occurring at the same time. [Life events nowadays have become the reading of a book or the watching of a great film.] I happened to experience them at the same time. In both events, the present is mixed with the past. In the book, Cherrywood by Jock Serong, the present sweats with the pain of the past. In the film Colors of Time, or La Venue de l’Avenir, by Dédério Kaplison, the present breathes the sweetness of the past. We can’t always separate the two, but whenever we can, it gives us the courage to push ourselves to live.
